A first aid kit is a collection of supplies and equipment for use in giving first aid treatment. These first aid kits can be put together for this purpose or purchased complete. It is very important to have a fully-stocked first aid kit readily available. One first aid kit should always remain in the home, while another one is perfect for the car. A home first aid kit should be in a clean, large container that is simple to open and easy to transport. It is also a good practice to keep a list of the items inside the kit accessible.
Another important thing to include in this list is the right dosage for each medicine, so time will not be wasted determining the dosage. A portable first aid kit should be roomy so that the needed items can be quickly found. The container should also be durable so that it can withstand the wear and tear from being in the trunk of the car. The idea behind a portable first aid kit is that it will always be with you whenever you are away from home. This will ensure that you will have everything you need at your fingertips even if you are away from home.

I was one of the victims of hurricane Katrina, and I remember that time pretty clearly in my head. My husband was at our business ensuring that all the equipment and investments we had was intact. And I was stuck at home worried sick with my 2 daughters with me. It was a frightening experience, and I could not believe that our home would be gone in just a few seconds. I was down and out, scared for our lives and worried about how we could get everything back to normal.
After this incident, I have learned a lot of things and have considered the importance of being prepared when these things strike once again. Back in 2005 I was in need of flashlights and batteries, medicines and blankets to keep the kids warm. I now plan ahead and keep a survival kit for those instances. I hope I would never have to go through that frightening moment in our lives again, but I have to make sure this time and be ready in case we are to experience it yet again.

A lot of people choose to install expensive alarm systems to provide security for their homes. There are other less expensive steps that can be done in order to make one’s home more secure. It is very important to remember to lock up every time one leaves the house, and not rely too much on your security systems. One of the best tips for home security is to begin by assessing the integrity of all the doors, windows, and other points of entry into the house.
Doors should seal tightly against the door frames without leaving a gap where a burglar could pry open the door or kick it open. Windows should also seal tightly for basically the same reason. Installing dead bolts particularly for exterior doors is also an important measure for overall home security. Another home security tip is to make it look like someone is home by leaving strategic lights open or purchasing timers for these lights. Always remember to lock doors and windows when leaving the house and even when inside the home.

An LED flashlight produces light through light emitting diodes instead of an incandescent bulb, making it cooler, tougher, and more energy efficient. LED flashlights come in many different sizes and candle powers just like regular flashlights. The number of LEDs in the flashlight will determine its brightness. The LEDs are coated with a clear, solid resin, making them almost indestructible. The Streamlight Survivor flashlight is an LED flashlight that features a raised push button switch that is recessed in polymer housing for protection.
It is designed to run up to 3 hours on high beam and up to 6 hours on low beam. It has a dual power source which are 4 “AA” alkaline batteries or a rechargeable nickel cadmium battery pack. No tools are required to change the batteries on this flashlight. The rugged nylon polymer body is virtually indestructible and passed the 30 foot drop test with flying colors. It has a newly-redesigned clip that does not deform like metal clips, with an O-ring seal for exceptional water resistance.

There are different types of metal detectors, from walk-through models to hand-held wands. A handheld metal detector is a device that the operator passes closely over the body of an individual being checked, who usually stands with feet slightly apart and with arms outstretched. This type of metal detector is usually battery operated and depending on the model, can alert through a light or an audible beeping alarm. These security wands can be rented in large numbers so that several people can provide security at an event.
There are times that a handheld metal detector is used in conjunction with a walk-through device to screen those that trip the walk-through detector. Although handheld metal detectors are more economical to rent than walk-through devices, they are harder for the operators who need to bend to wave the wand up and down the legs of each person that goes through the screening process. This also causes a slowdown of entry into the event, as compared to a walk-through metal detector.

As a book editor, having to read on a regular basis is my life. Wherever I go or whatever else I am up to, I would always have at least one of the manuscripts with me whenever I pass up some free time between schedules to get work done. I have always wanted to do this since I was a child. Having been engrossed with the adventures and information these books have brought to my life.
Right at home, my work still continues on with not only manuscripts but also a few books I have purchased from the local bookstore to increase my knowledge and variety of books I have read. Backed with my reading glasses and a portable LED lamp, I can still continue on reading until the wee hours of the morning. There’s nothing like a great read to take you places you never thought possible, all without ever leaving the confines of your own home.

I am a woman living alone in the city and sometimes I cannot help going home late at night. My work is very demanding and overtime is a very common thing for me. Sometimes, I fret the short distance walk that I need to do in order to go home from my office. I know that a short distance cannot assure safety during the night, or any part of the day.
That’s why for my peace of mind, I bought a stun gun the other day. I had the decision when someone got robbed on the same street I pass by last week. It wasn’t that late and it happened with some people passing by to. I didn’t want to be one of those victims and the device surely assures safety for me.

Handcuffs are restraint devices that are designed to lock someone’s hands together, making it difficult for them to escape, hurt themselves, or injure someone else. Similar to handcuffs, leg cuffs are specially sized restraints that are meant to restrain an individual’s legs. These cuffs are most often used in law enforcement settings, specifically during the transport of prisoners. Most law enforcement agencies have access to leg cuffs, although they are not generally carried on police calls.
Leg cuffs are similar in design to handcuffs, consisting of two roughly circular metal loops connected by a chain. The metal loops open so that they can be placed around a prisoner’s ankles and then closed again. The ability to restrain a prisoner’s legs is very important in many law enforcement situations. Such restraint impedes an individual’s ability to escape, as it will make walking or running very difficult, or even impossible. It also impedes an individual’s ability to fight with his feet.
