Keep an Emergency Flashlight On Hand
In times of emergency, one of the more important things you should be glad you had is a flashlight. With an emergency flashlight, you can check your surroundings and make sure that you are safe from further harm. In case of an earthquake, for example, you can check parts of the house for falling debris even if regular power supply is still not available. You will also need your emergency flashlight to scrounge around in your cabinets for food supply. One thing to remember is to always check your flashlight to make sure they have working batteries.
It is not necessary to get fancy flashlights. A basic 2 ‘D’ cell battery flashlight with a plastic case will be good enough for emergency purposes. Keep extra batteries close by. However, one with a radio will be a good thing. With the radio, you can be updated on what is happening outside of your immediate surroundings. It is important to keep calm and be alert as to what is happening. Make sure that other members of the family are safe, warm and comfortable as much as the conditions will allow.
